A Room With A View! |
Here are more pictures of the view from Room 2706 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel Arts Barcelona.

Above is the circle outside the hotel. At the bottom left is a fountain that was rarely on while I was in Barcelona.

Above is the view from my window. On the left is the Mapfre Insurance skyscraper. On the bottom right is the Olympic Marina. It is lined with restaurants and night clubs. Each restaurant has three parts: 1) the patio part where you see the white canopies, 2) the inside ground floor part like a regular restaurant, and 3) the upper level which is accessible from the sidewalk that is built on that level. The hosts stand out on the street with their menus and practically beg you to come in and eat their food. One note: Most restaurants have the same food! They ALL have a leg of serrano ham displayed prominently in the front somewhere.

Above is the view from my window toward the city of Barcelona. Like many coastal cities in the world, it stretches from the sea to the mountains. With a population of 1.5 million and a metro population of 4.5 million, there are a LOT of peole crammed into this tiny sea village. In the foreground is the Olympic Village where the athletes stayed in 1992. I was told that each building in the Olympic Village was designed by a different local architect. Each building IS definitely different. They are now high-end aparments.
